The giant Wildalpen rock avalanche, involving approx. 900 million cubic metres of limestone, occurred approx. 5900-5700 years ago in the N part of the Hochschwab massif. Since then, the slip surface of the initial rock slide, shown in the lower part of the scene, has been influenced by karst processes. View in NE direction to Großer Griesstein (2023 m).
