Whereas the Australian continent hosts extensive drylands contrasting with a belt of ancient rainforests in the East and a few spots of large urban agglomerations, Oceania consists of dispersed groups of islands spread over much of the vast Pacific Ocean. These islands come up with highly distinctive natural and cultural features.
