Vicuñas are the wild foremothers of the alpacas. They often live in wetlands in the Altiplano (known as vegas or bofedales), which are usually found along streams such as the Río de Juana shown in this photo. View in E direction to the stratovolcano Cerro Tocorpuri (5808 m) in the background.
