The backbone of the Evergreen State is the Cascade Range with its prominent volcanoes such as Mount Rainier and Mount St. Helens. The extremely humid Pacific coast supports temperate rainforests. Most people live along the shores of the Puget Sound with the largest city Seattle and the capital Olympia.
